Pintler Meadows in Deer Lodge is an investment of the State of Montana authorized by the 2023 Montana Legislature to provide housing for state employees at the Montana State Prison and Montana State Hospital. The Board of Investments oversees the property in addition to its commercial real estate portfolio. 

Per HB819 (2023), approximately 70% of the units will go to Montana State Prison employees, and 30% will go to Montana State Hospital employees.
 

WHO SHOULD APPLY

Full-time employees of Montana State Hospital or Montana State Prison who:

• Have a household income less than $110,000 and; 
• Will spend no more than 30% of monthly household income on housing if awarded; or
• Are currently unhoused. 
  
  

HOW IT WORKS

The applicant pool is a lottery that draws as units become available. 

No need to submit duplicate applications. Applicants who submit more than one application may be disqualified. 

No pets or smoking allowed. 

The second workforce housing lottery has been closed.

The second drawing will take place on July 8th, 2025. Results will be communicated prior to July 31st, 2025. Move-in dates for the second drawing are expected to be in the fall and winter of 2025.

The first drawing was held on April 7th, 2025. Occupancy is expected on or after August 1st, 2025.
